Vaccine against COVID19 Research Project at PUMS

Research teams lead by prof. Andrzej Mackiewicz have initiated a research project aimed at creating a vaccine against COVID19.

They are hoping to modify their previously developed technology for cancer treatment vaccines (i.e. melanoma vaccine and genetic cancer vaccines based on induced pluripotent stem cells), so to stimulate antibodies, innate immunity and cell immunity against the new virus.

On a separate track, the team is also developing targeted immunotherapy for COVID-19-positive cancer patients using a mechanism based on biodegradable nanocarriers that would deliver the treatment agent directly into infected cells.
