November 13, 2018

We have officially inaugurated the new Medical Simulation Center complex on November 7. The opening ceremony, hosted by Rector Andrzej Tykarski, was attended by prominent officials and University authorities, including: Mr. Slawomi Gadomski – Deputy Secretary at the Polish Ministry of Health, PUMS Chancellor – Dr. Rafal Staszewski and the Director of Medical Simulation Center – Dr. Lukasz Gasiorowski.

The event started in the Library-Congress Center where the representative of the Ministry announced that the government is transferring 40 million PLN worth of treasury bonds to strengthen the investment capital of the University.

After a presentation of first aid simulation scenario, all guests moved to the new Medical Simulation Center which has been officially named Collegium Adama Wrzoska to commemorate the Polish doctor who created our Medical Faculty and was the first dean of medicine.

The new facilities include:

– 8 high-fidelity simulation rooms with control rooms and briefing rooms: OR, 2 ICUs, ER, ambulance, baby delivery room and 2 nursing stations,
– 6 low-fidelity simulation labs for ALS, BLS, technical skills, clinical skills, surgical skills and VR,
– 10 teaching rooms for standardized patients practice, nursing skills, obstetrics and OSCE exams.

Although medical simulation classes started at PUMS nearly 8 years ago, this will be the first year when we will be conducting classes with standardized patients – actors professionally prepared to play the role of patients.

The investment was completed with additional financing coming from the EU Funds in amount of 16 642 522.97 PLN.
